HA13 Task 2 - Setting Research and Ideas Generation

I have decided to do the fantasy theme from four that we have been provided with.

"Fantasy - A surreal house in which all of the contents are notably not to scale. For example, the living room sofa is massive and requires stairs to sit on it and the TV is minuscule and needs a magnifying glass to view it, etc."

Alice in Wonderland Ideas Research

I did some searching and collected several pictures of Alice in Worderland or other works inspired by this book, as well as the game Alice Madness Returns. I chose them because the theme of things being out of place and scale is a base for this story. The protagonist either feels claustrophobic or too tiny. 

Tiny Houses Ideas Research

I researched into bug and cat houses as well as cardboard playhouses. My idea is to not have a real human-like house but a tiny one probably made for a beetle or tiny dwarf. Because of that the major structure will be made of quite unusual materials and probably have multiple holes.

Thumbellina

Tumbelina is another choice, but there the main character is tiny - a thumb size. I picked imagery both of the film as well as illustrations and things inspired by it.

Gulliver

Gulliver is a total opposite, since he (in this particular of his travels) appeared massive compared to these tiny people. 

Other Ideas Research

Here I searched for individual props that fit my idea. I rather prefer to make things appear more of less the same size but some are vintage objects in real human households whereas others are tiny DIY objects (eg. match box as a bed). There are also some natural objects such as trees of honeycomb which I may also merge into the design.
